Ahbing teaches you how to cook: Best Bak Kut Teh in Toowong, Brisbane.

Today ahbing teach you how to cook Bak Kut Teh! What I heard lately, my bak kut teh has become pretty famous in my street because everyone can smell it. Even the birds also fly into my kitchen to check it out. Woo I am so good. Anyway *ahem* ok let’s start.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1kg pork rib
  • 1500ml water
  • A1 bak kut teh (cheating I know)
  • dark soy sauce; light soy sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic
  • onion
  • oyster sauce
  • what also can laaa, you like one.

Cut the pork ribs into cutlets, throw everything into the pots – water, pork, garlic, blablabla… read the instructions behind A1 bak kut teh can liao. Hahahaa.

I wanted to have extra “sweetness” in the soup, so I added onion and marinara mix into the soup.

Then, cook it for 1-2 hours in low heat. Keep it covered.

When it’s done, add the remaining ingredients – dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, salt, pepper, oyster sauce. Well, because I put in extra onion and marinara mix, I didn’t have to put any of the remaining ingredients because it’s already good tasting. Add those ingredients if you want the “maggie soup” kind of experience.

I forgot to take photo of the completed bak kut teh, aiyayaya. So I simply go google search this image. Hahaha. The soup colour and meat are pretty much the same here. Except mine is more “gao”.. hehehe.

Ouh yea baby! Oishii desu ne~

You can give it a try. I doubt about the taste though.. will be different than pork. Pork has a distinct kind of ‘sweetness’ compare to chicken.

If you use chicken, make sure you cook with the bones ;)
