Brisbane’s Largest Market

Brisbane market is the largest fruit and vegetable supermarket in Brisbane.

This market only opens 3 days a week, and two hours for each session. Very lan si one! This is supposedly a wholesale market specially opened for restaurant owners and small-sized fruit stores. The market only opens to public when “bigger players” done with their purchases.

Fruits and vegetables here sells in a fucking cheap price, especially in-seasoned ones.

We are only allowed to drive 20km/h inside the car park area – many big trucks are constantly in moving. My grandmother can walk faster than truck, hahaha. But it’s a good practice nevertheless.

One thing I admire about the culture of Australia, they obey rules – especially road speed limit. If you drive 40km/h in this area, they will point middle finger at you.

Like this : “NAH” t(-_-t)

Jerry came to this market few months ago. His experience is bit different. He claims he had troubles navigating this market because it was packed with people and huge boxes of fruits and vegetables. People don’t use plastic bags to purchase their items – they use trolleys.

Why trolleys? You look at these photos, then you will understand.

All items are sold in HUGE BOXES! I don’t know how to buy watermelon here leh… hahahaha.

From top right (clockwise) – orange, onion, watermelon, apple, mango and tomato. My dad will be delighted if they sell durian in boxes. He probably will look at me and say “son, my life is complete.” Hahahhaha. He really goes crazy with durians. I probably go crazy with girls (hehe)

The price are usually written on floor with chalk. Very effective and dirt easy solution don’t you think? ;) The unit of measurement is “per box”. If you ask him “how much are you selling this per kilo?” They give you the same respond again..

“NAH” t(-_-t)

We wanted to buy sooooooooooo many things, the dirt cheap price makes every thing so tempting! Even for the vegetables we don’t like! I am a sucker for cheap stuffs, heh. The problem is, we are not able to consume everything in short period of time.

However, we are not going back empty handed.

Bing: “We must buy something”

Jerry: “I agree. Even if we can’t finish the food, we must buy! I don’t care!”

Bing: “Yaloh yaloh. We can share with friends mah. Next time we plan another trip again, and we drive lorry.”

We didn’t spend time hunting for the best price – all the fruits and vegetables offers similar price. We look for the fruits that LOOKED THE BEST. lol.

I chose honeydew, can make honeydew sago. yummy yummy. Guess how much this box of honey dew cost?

$8. Fucking EIGHT BUCKS.

In Coles, they are selling half honeydew for $1.85 – ridiculous!

Jerry chose a box of mango. The price is $18.

In normal fruit stores, its not rare to see price goes up to $3-$4 for one mango. $18 for 12 mangoes? SAP SAP SUI lahhh!!

We wanted to buy more – but we had problem carrying the heavy boxes around. So we ended our session abruptly. We swear we will return with a trolley next time, along with a lorry. Heh heh..

(I had to take this shot, can’t help it)

I HAVE BIG BALLS HAHAHA
