Frogs. Lovely little creatures… they bwak bwak bwak after the rain. So cute! I still remember catching tadpoles in padang with my cousin after heavy rain. Tear them apart and eat them alive.
Nolaa… you sot-sot meh, eat them alive wah. You thought all frogs can eat wan ar? Hahahha.
Jokes aside, did you know you can actually eat certain types of frogs? They taste like chicken you know. In Chinese, it is also known as 田雞 (tián ji). This frog cuisine is mainly consumed in Southeast Asia region only. You try invite Americans to eat frog.. they probably point a gun at you.
I went to Singapore to consume their infamous frog porridge, exactly one month ago.

Shannon says this is probably one of the famous frog porridge around China Town. We were there for supper!
(Off topic: he also told me the owner of this shop recently past away, and his coffin was placed in the middle of the shop. Yaiks o.O He might be watching us from the corner while we were devouring his famous porridge)

The frog porridge is served in a claypot. Boiling hot. This ensures the frog is dead.
Nola just kidding – they don’t throw the whole live frog in it. That’s too cruel. But they skin the frog alive, that part is true.
Eww! < Delicious!

Shannon prefers a lighter meal, he ordered century egg porridge instead. Good stuff also la. Maybe they put few scoops of Ajinomoto in each bowl that makes it so delicious.

This is Chinese version of Sashimi. No kidding. Many friends don’t believe when I told them about Chinese serving their own version of sashimi =__= Why? only Japanese can serve sashimi meh? Ah wait, even the word “Sashimi” is Japanese.

Behold! The famous frog!
No kidding, the frog really tastes like chicken. It has similar bones, meat textures, looks the same and even taste like it!. I had friend once told me that he finish the whole bowl frog porridge, mistakenly thought was chicken porridge.
“No wonder the meat is a bit chewy….. damnn…” he told me in horror. Hahaha, stupid guy.

Yum yum.

The aftermath.
Based on the skeleton count, I think they only put half frog in one serving of porridge. I only came aware of this while writing this post
Next time I should try order like this:
“Ehhh 老闆娘, gimme a bowl of frog porridge, whole frog ah! don’t cut into small pieces please. Only remove skin and guts will do. 謝謝你”

While I was writing this post, my mum asks “Eh what’s that on your screen?” I showed her all the food photos and she saw the bill..
“Ha?? Why $15.30 ONLY?”
“That is standard food price.. for some, this is considered expensive liao ok”
“But still cheap wo.. you ate frog..”
You see, that reflects the standard food price at KK is extremely inflated.
One bowl of noodle and a beverage easily cost you RM8-RM10.

omg!! this is euww! lol! ok ok its seems so yummy as how u described it. :) seriously, its very cheap lor. if at here, u wont get such cheap price! :)
