Seafood at Morgan’s

April 13, 2009

If you have been following my blog for awhile, you will know why I rarely post any new entries these days. Main reason is – I was staying home whole day gaming. And wasn’t doing anything worth mentioning. I only do sports once a week. Go uni four days a week. And stayed home play game for the rest of the days. Man, honestly.. I saved up a lot of money in past month. If I play WoW for another month, I think I can buy a new sports bicycle :)

Oh, besides gaming and uni. I  have been watching Michael Smith’s “Chef at Home” cooking show. Man, this show has fired up my cooking desire. Expect some cooking post from me next few days. I want to have a full cupboard of herbs and cooking ingredients in my kitchen like him in my own house /desire.

Easter holiday week is here. I decided not to stay home and play game. Thanks to my buddy, Chris. He has been tirelessly reminding me not to get too addicted to the game. I admit there are times when he ask my out for activities, and I just refused to go out (hmm, I saved money also la.. hahaha). Last weekend, we decided to go Redcliff, northern suburb of Brisbane, to get some fresh seafood.

I got many stories to tell. Long post ahead.

It took awhile for us to reach there. We were a bit lost in the journey. It all turns well though. Let me tell you a story. Chris talked to an old lady by the roadside to get direction (ad move). We waited in car for five minutes and he hasn’t return. Jerry and I get out of car and check why he took so long. Soon after we stepped out of the car, we regretted. Why? Because he met one super duper naggy grandma who slowly spends time explaining the route. She spends her time explaining every single route to reach that destination. I mean, every single route!! In fact, the destination is only one left turn, go straight, then turn left again!! Her gave all the possible routes to reach there, ohh my god that is so freakingly funny.

“Oh ok thank you. I think we know how to get there.”

“You see, if you take the first left turn here, you can turn left into this street, then turn right. You are facing N/E side by now. Drive straight and turn right by this junction, turn left and left. Then right left left right left right. You will reach there in an hour time”

“Thanks! We appreciate that you showed us the exact location.. we can use GPS to guide us there. So, no worries about the route”

“Oh remember boys. If you go there from this junction, you are now facing the North side. Look at the sun and get your direction. From here turn left left right right left right left left right (another 20 minutes gone)”

We left. And reach our destination in probably only five minutes.

Nah!! This is what I call a seafood market!! Compare to Brisbane’s No.1 Fish Market, /pfft. Cannot compare at all la. It’s like comparing a kancil with bicycle. Bicycle still wins. Hahaha. Bad example, I know. Who cares anyway. haha.

Heck. They even have their own oyster bar. How cool is that? Not oyster corner or oyster section. They call it OYSTER BAR. OHHHHH!!! BABY!! Jizz in my pants man..

morgans5

He is cool enough to pose for my little camera :)

Few minutes later… we sit outside the seafood market and enjoy the fresh oysters. Cannot wait liao la. Limbeh beh tahan!! /slurp /slurp /slurp.

Besides the seafood market and oyster bar. There is another section of the market that sells fish and chips. That’s our main purpose here. Lots of fish and chips!! Fresh ones!! Reasonable pricee I guess. We pay for what we eat. It’s all good. And special thing here is, you have to write down what you are going to order. Unlike typical restaurants where you have to tell the cashier what you want, pay money and wait your food to be served. At Morgan’s seafood, you write down, pass to cashier, pay cash. You look at cashier, cashier look back at you and /nodhead. Whoa, mafia style man. I like.

We ordered Fisherman’s Basket for each of us. Why all order the same? The reason is simple – there is only one dish on the menu. The difference are only kid size, adult size and family size. And how you want your fish prepare – battered, grill, crumbed. Talk about efficiency.

Clockwise from top left: Chester, Bing, Juin, Chris. Together we are F4 /lame.

Aww.. heavenly. With every squeeze of lemon, it brings my tongue sense to another level. And funnily enough, everytime I eat oysters. Terry Crews comes into my mind. A scene of him eating oysters, in the movie White Chicks. Haha classic!

Artistic senses suddenly kicked in while I was writing this entry. Tweaked abit of the contrasts and color balance of the photo above. The weather has been gloomy and wet past week. These weather makes me lazy. These weather reminds me of my ex-girlfriend, Phaedra. I missed her. But we need to move on. Next chapter is yet to be opened. Erm, I don’t know what does the last sentence means. But it sounds nice. Whatever la. hahaha.

On our way home. Chester stopped by a fuel station to fill up his tank. We take that opportunity to get some hot coffees too. I got ourselves some Krispy kreme too! Donut tastes specially good at these weather.
