This is my second day in Taiwan trip. Click here for Day 1.
After 24 hours of touching down — We were still acting like little kids from kampung. If you hang out with us, you’ll be embarrassed because we “WHOAAAA” at almost everything
But that’s the point of travelling, isn’t it? Especially with a huge group of 9 people.
P/S: We went to Taipei night club yesterday night, and we are suffering hang-over. You’ll be surprised to see why hang-over people are still so energetic.
We departed hotel at noon, and straight to go search for food. Our guide, Ah Zip, Malaysian friend who migrated to Taiwan, brought us to food court at Taipei Main Station (台北車站).
The food court is amazing. If you come Taipei, chances are you will stop at this station many times. So make sure you visit the food court here.

YSLo, my big buddy who knows how to pose for good photos.
Whole day he keep singing Spongebob theme song, tak tau mana dia belajar that song ^^” It’s fucking annoying weiiiiii.
He keeps “海綿寶寶!海綿寶寶!海綿寶寶!” whole morning.
In fact, he did that whole Taiwan trip.

But he is cute isn’t he?
Lots of girls like to hug him.. we’re all damn jealous.
He is so charismatic that he always get the girl(s) every time he visits night clubs (London, Paris, Bangkok, Manila, Sydney, etc)
But this time, the “pimp daddy” name goes to another friend within our group la.. I don’t want mention name. You know who you are when you read this.. hahahha.

There’s one food I specifically want to mention here. It’s called 蘭州拉麵 (lan jiao la mian)
Yes, that’s how I refer to the restaurant name every single time—lanjiaomian. Very catchy hah
So, what’s so special about this noodle leh?

According to the menu, you need to taste the soup when it arrives. Then, add some vinegar—the soup immediately changes taste. The soup has a “deeper” taste to it, damn it’s so difficult to explain. Thirdly, you add the red chili oil.
What happened?
THE SOUP BECOME TOTALLY DIFFERENT TASTE!!
It’s neither sour or spicy—it’s a whole new different taste. Fuck I am so angry with the limitation of my vocabulary, I couldn’t explain it in details here.. it’s that darn amazing I tell you.
They also won the best 拉麵 award in 2008, don’t know is whole Taipei or Taiwan, or even the world. Tak tau lah.
You can find this restaurant at Taipei Main Station food court

Bought a dozen of custard buns for NT$100. (approx. RM10)

The bun is also amazing. Custard fills 90% of the bun, and the rest 10% is dough.
No air bubble inside—filled with amazing gooey custards. No cheating one. I like

Group photo at 基隆車站 (Kee Long Train Station). Took us an hour of train ride. We are catching taxi to several famous tourist spots.
DESTINATION: 野柳地質之園

30 minutes of taxi-ride, we’re finally at our destination — 野柳地質之園 (Yehliu Geopark)
What is this place?
Jeng jeng jeng…

One of the rara places where mother earth crafts art – fantastic rock formation
According to Wikipedia,
“These are a form of hoodoo stones. They are part of the Taliao Miocene Formation which was formed when geological forces pushed the Datun Mountain out of the sea.”

This particular “art” is known as the Queen’s head (女王頭).
The Queen’s head is something like the “rock star” among the stones. It is also the unofficially emblem for the small town called Wanli (萬里)

From left to right – Pet Mau Lye, Entutson, Niao Ren, Hock, Ah Zip, 檸檬.
LOL all haz nick name. And all has it’s own story.

YSLo is still suffering hang-over. His battery finally decided to die.
So he took a good rest, directly above a huge compass. I wonder if the personnel saw him lying like that, will blow whistle and give warning or not

We took 200-300 photos at that place before deciding to move on.
At the exit, we need to go through a looooooong market, where vendors sell all sorts of sea-products and souvenirs.

Amazing sea produce at amazingly cheap price. Perfect for souvenirs.. but the products can be a bit heavy in my opinion.

On the way to our next destination, I saw this fucking funny banner beside the road.
If you know how to speak Hakka, the word 許春財 is directly pronounced as “si chun choi”, which means…
…. bloody stupid fella.
To make it even worse, 4 words are added in front, “實在實在”, hakka read as “sit zoi sit zoi”, which means..
…. really really really bloody stupid fella.
Ah man, I wonder how this guy interact with Hakka people. The people will laugh at his name until the day he dies.
… and continue laughing after he dies because his grave stone will be engraving his name. Hahahahaha
=======
DESTINATION: 九份

We’re finally at this amazing place, called 九份 (Jiu Fen). Ah Zip says this place is famous for the old shop lots.

According to Wikipedia—the name, 九份, comes from a story like this:
“由於在清領時代初期的時候,這地方的村落住了9戶人家,每當外出到市集購物時都是每樣要「九份」,到了後來九份就成了這村落的地名,一直沿用至今”

I personally think is a huge piece of art
it’s a brilliant place to take photo, especially night scenes.
We had our first meal in a fish ball restaurant. Everything is sooooo old. They even use wooden chairs and tables that we used to have during primary school.
YSLo says wooden chairs makes him feel most comfortable—he doesn’t need to worry about breaking plastic chairs.

Fishball noodle!
Was expecting the fish ball to be bouncy.. I was damn wrong
the texture was opposite.
The food here nothing to shout about. Just wanna show you some pictures

3 people missing from the photos
Reason? too lazy to add more photos. Hahaaha.

Ohhhhh they sell lard in TONG BESAR!!
Couldn’t find anything like this in Malaysia, as far as I know.
Lard (noun) – fat from the abdomen of a pig that is rendered and clarified for use in cooking.
Oh yes that’s sexy.

九份 is geographically situated on a terrain. You have to walk on many steps if you want to thoroughly explore this place. Luckily all of us were wearing sport shoes. You’ll suffer like shit if you wear high heels (who wear high heels to travel anyway?)

On a random walk, we found a yam-cha place that has special entrance. They entrance is like a terowong, where you need to walk probably 10-15meters of tight space before reaching the restaurant.
There’s one spot that YSLo and I have trouble passing through—this proves that Taiwan has very little overweigh huge-size citizens.

On the wall, there are graffitis on the wall – too bad none of us were informed to bring our own blanko.
I’d say this photo makes a perfect album cover.
Kok Ye, you owe me a drink.

Huge statues can be found at the outer wall of 九份. The wall is magnificent if you look closely.
You can probably see these from below the hill. (九份 is on top of a hill by the way)

The last row caught my attention—豬油飯.
Nasi “Lemak” BABI man!! where can you find this awesome shit in Malaysia?
Every time you order a 豬油飯, is like requesting a ticket to die quickly.
“Hello boss!! I want to order one 豬油飯 aah! I want to block my artery more so I can die earlier! Mmm goii!!”

Streets at 九份 when it’s around 9pm.. a bit creepy. There are some old shops renting out Chinese costume, exactly like costumes that ghost wears.. so.. hahha.
Some residents are still staying here. From observation, they are mostly elderlies. We walked by a house and noticed two couples sitting in front of television, white hair..
…they turned their head around…
…and they don’t have face.

Just kidding.
Bought some beers too.. NT$35 per can.
It all started with “are you scared to drink now? 來啦!*shuk ar!?”
Everyone grabbed a can of beer.

According to Raymond, the author of Spirited Away cartoon movie gets his inspiration from this place.
The movie won Oscar Award and Academy Award and many other awards.. it’s an animation worth checking out.

DESTINATION: 基隆夜市 (KeeLong Night Market)

IS TIME TO EAT x 100!!
MAKAN MAKAN EAT MAKAN EAT 吃喝玩樂 EAT MAKAN EAT EAT MAKAN EAT MAKAN MAKAN EAT MAKAN EAT 吃喝玩樂 EAT MAKAN EAT EAT MAKAN EAT
Almost hundreds of stalls waiting for us to discover.
We even plan to meet up at a certain spot after 2 hours, in case we get lost or left someone behind.
We had plan this because none of us have mobile phone ^^”

On the left photo, that’s the best 滷肉飯 I’ve ever ate at Taiwan.
“OH MY GOD WHY SO GODLY WANNNNN” I shouted at Entutson. The rice is complementary only though, but it’s no.1 in my heart..
How are we going to tackle to food in night market?
We spot anything we never tried before, we buy, and try
share the food with each other.
90% of the time we say “哇!真的很好吃!再買!”
Another hundreds of photos to pick from. I show you photos which are most interesting… and some of the food were featured in 綜藝節目.
Anything that’s featured in a show, we buy without hesitating. Hahaha.

I had so much fun devouring the food in night market. The pictures I’ve shown above is probably 10-20% of whole market.
I told myself “Even gain 5 kilo also no problem la— it’s worth it! So… EAT SAJA LAH”
哈哈哈哈!爽死啦!
*shuk – no balls, afraid.
