Although I am on holiday now, I still need to get work done. That’s the awesome part of working full time from the internet ^^; After done with personal “office hour” – it’s time to go shopping.
I was told there are many travel gears shop at Novena and Orchard. So off I went.
The gears selections at Novena are really fantastic, I can almost get 9/10 of my listed travel gears in one shopping mall. The only thing I can’t find it zip lock bag ^^; ended up sharing sandwich zip lock bag with Shannon.
There’s a point where I almost fainted. The backpack I intended to buy from Amazon was USD$150 (Osprey Talon 44), but shipping fees are almost RM500 (included other small miscellaneous items). So I decided to spend that RM500 on air ticket and fly to Singapore to buy these gears instead, plus I can get more choices to choose from.
The moment of truth. Backpack that sold for RM500 in Malaysia, it’s sold as SGD$399 (loosely RM1,000) in Singapore. I almost fainted. For a moment I really thought about traveling with a normal day back and lots of plastic bags.
Scouted the whole mall, finally found a hidden shop at the corner that’s selling 40% of shop wide. Walked in, I saw heaven’s light shining on rack of hiking backpacks with huge sign of “40% DISCOUNTS”. Memang halluluya song playing in my mind. It’s a $349 Columbia 40Liters backpack. The same 40% discounts goes to following items too.

Spent an hour at coffee shop to rest; listened to audio from Dr Deepak Chopra and Anthony Robbins, where they discuss about how to utilise the power of physiology to alter human emotion and behavior. Fascinating stuff. (youtube)
Note: not sure is the same audio or not; I personally listened to audiobook version.
I also bought a book from Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist. Finally I found this book after searching for many months!
Met up with Jerry and Chester. Always great hospitality from these JB friends, in friendship department they get 110%. really! Chester drove all the way from JB just to have dinner with us. He just recently opened a new resort at Pulau Tioman too.. 钱途一片光芒. Still single o. Ok back to topic.
Dinner at Brotzie, ahhh I don’t remember what’s the spelling of the German restaurant again. I only know that I am always happy every time I visit this place. There’s plenty of good beer there.
Today, I behaved well! Well, I only behaved well because my bank is running low of money hahahha. If I drink more I’d really have to eat grass through out my S.E. Asia backpack trip.
The trip only started 2 days – I still have remaining 32 days to go.. I’m already drinking! One of my travel resolutions is “no beer less meat create more rest more” but so far I am doing the opposite hahahha. I thought I can be monk until the final few days then only hard core party.
Why are my assumptions always wrong.
Desserts menu that I think is very cool and I want to imitate it learn from the best for my ZenQ dessert shop!
Today I am at Singapore.
